One of the necessary components of the IndoSail rig is to tune the various parts to work correctly. The technique for doing this via stay oscillation can be found in the following files by Peter Schenzle. This was a new technique when I started sailing the second Rainbow Warrior in 1989. I adapted it quickly.
As I mentioned in the handling section of this web site, this is necessary to adjust the three different materials of the headstays, trailing straps and backstays. I never got adept in judging the shrouds, because of their short length. For the shrouds, I would tune by eye when the vessel was heeling.
